Jean Castex announced the Covid-19: 16 departments confined, a curfew at 7 p.m. and the return of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Jean Castex, announced Thursday, March 18 the establishment of a new confinement on part of the country (16 departments including all of Île-de-France, Hauts-de-France, Alpes-Maritimes, Eure and Seine-Maritime), from midnight on the night of Friday to Saturday, and for at least four weeks.

But the measures applied will differ from the two previous confinements on certain points, in particular the walks and excursions, which will remain authorized without time limit and within a radius of 10 kilometers. The curfew will also be pushed back to 7 p.m. throughout the country. As for the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine, it will resume on Friday.

"We will maintain the bias to leave schools open", including in areas once again confined, said Jean Castex, by desire to "preserve as much as possible the education of our children." The government has made the same choice in secundary schools, and nothing will change in universities. On the other hand, the high schools of the 16 departments concerned by the reconfinement will all have to apply a "half-gauge", which is already the case for two-thirds of them according to the Prime Minister.

As in previous confinements, part of the businesses - those that do not sell "basic" goods - will have to close in the areas concerned. The sale of goods subjects to restrictions will be prohibited, including in businesses that have remained open, such as supermarkets. As already announced, booksellers, record stores and hairdressers are not affected by these closures.
